Male Injured in Franklin Township Shooting

FRANKLIN TWP., N.J. – Somerset County Prosecutor Michael H. Robertson, Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Chief of County Detectives John W. Fodor and Franklin Township Public Safety Director Quovella Spruill announced an investigation into a shooting that occurred in the early morning hours of Saturday, May 16, in Franklin Township, New Jersey.

Prosecutor Robertson stated that on May 16, 2020, at approximately 1:05 a.m., Franklin Township Police Officers responded to the area of Oak Place for a 9-1-1 call reporting gunshots coming from the direction of Route 27.

Responding officers located a vehicle containing damage consistent with gunshots.

An adult male victim was located inside the vehicle suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

The victim, a Franklin Township resident, was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Detectives from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit along with detectives from the Franklin Township Police Department responded to the scene to conduct the investigation.
