Male Injured After Suspects Occupying Vehicles Exchange Gunfire in Orange;

Residents in a neighborhood in Orange frantically dialed 911 after they observed occupants inside two vehicles exchanged gunfire while driving through their community on Wednesday evening.

According to preliminary reports, the incident happened at approximately 7:42 p.m., which had police responding to reports of shots fired in the vicinity of High and White streets.

Units arrived at the scene and were told by witnesses that shortly before they arrived, two blue vehicles pulled up in the area and began to exchange gunfire for several minutes before speeding away from the scene.

Several police units canvassed the area and found one of the vehicles crashed in the area with a suspect running from the scene towards Park Avenue and High Street according to preliminary reports.

Officers were able to track the suspect to the 200 block of Watchung Avenue where he was found suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the arm according to reports. The victim was transported to University Hospital where doctors provided further treatment.

A search of the crashed vehicle revealed a weapon and other evidence according to reports.

Police are looking for the suspects who occupied the other vehicle who remain at-large.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
