Male Found Shot at Supermarket on Border of Newark's Central/South Wards

Police officials in Newark are on the search for a suspect who fired several shots that struck a male at a location in the city on Saturday evening.

According to authorities, police responded to reports of a person shot at the Extra Supermarket located in the 100 block of Avon Avenue at approximately 7:20 p.m.

Units arrived at the scene found the unidentified victim suffering a bullet wound in his shoulder, according to reports.

EMS transported the victim to University Hospital, where his injuries were not immediately reported as life-threatening.

Police officers canvassing the scene found evidence and shell casings in the 20's block of Ridgewood Avenue on the South Ward side of the border according to reports.

The suspect remains at-large.
