Authorities in Newark are looking into the motive behind a shooting that left a male injured in a section of Newark Sunday morning.
According to preliminary reports, police responded to reports of shots fired in the vicinity of 184 South 11th Street shortly before 3 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers found a male victim suffering a gunshot wound in his back at that location. The victim was transported to University Hospital for treatment.
Police say they found several shell casings a block over in the area of 180 South 12th Street.
After police searched the area, they did not locate any other victims.
The investigation remains active and ongoing. No arrests were reported.
