Male Found Shot in His Neck in Newark's South Ward

Authorities in Newark are investigating a shooting that left a man wounded in the city’s South Ward early Monday morning.According to preliminary information, gunfire erupted around 12:10 a.m. in the vicinity of 255 West Runyon Street. 

When police arrived at the scene, they found a male victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the neck.

Officers secured the area and immediately summoned EMS, who transported the victim to University Hospital for treatment. As of early Monday, the extent of the man's condition has not been officially confirmed.

The motive behind the shooting remains unclear, and no arrests have been reported. 

The investigation is active and ongoing. Authorities urge anyone with information to come forward.
