Paterson Police are on the search for a suspect who fired a weapon on a street in the city that struck and injured a male overnight.
According to preliminary reports, officials at St. Joseph's Hospital contact police when an unidentified person entered the emergency department suffering an apparent gunshot wound just before 2:40 a.m.
The victim reported to police that he suffered his injury in the 400 block of McBride Avenue just before arriving at the hospital.
Police sent units to the scene to search for evidence in an effort to support the victim's claim, but authorities have not immediately confirmed that the shooting occurred at that location.
The extent of the victim's injuries has not been reported as life-threatening at this time.
