Police checked a Newark South Ward neighborhood for a crime scene after a gunshot victim entered a medical center in that portion of the city Thursday morning.
A preliminary investigation indicated that at approximately 2:45 a.m., officials at Beth Israel Hospital notified police when a gunshot victim entered the emergency room suffering bullet wounds.
Police investigating the incident began a search in the area of Nye Avenue and Hobson after learning that the victim may have been struck by gunfire in this neighborhood.
As of 3:25 a.m., no crime scene was located, and authorities are trying the ascertain the location of the shooting.
The victim's condition has been reported as stable at this time.
No motives have been released.
