Lyndhurst Man Accused of Touching Girl, 13, Inappropriately

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of 35-year-old Angel Argueta-Diaz, of Lyndhurst, on charges of endangering the welfare of a child and aggravated criminal sexual contact.

On Tuesday, August 9, 2016, the Lyndhurst Police Department received a report of a thirteen-year-old juvenile female being touched inappropriately by Argueta-Diaz.

The Lyndhurst Police Department notified the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Special Victims Unit and a joint investigation ensued.

Following the investigation, Argueta-Diaz was arrested and charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child, N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a, a 2nd degree crime and one count of Aggravated criminal sexual contact, N.J.S.A. 2C:14-3a, a 3rd degree crime.

The Honorable Gary N. WILCOX, J.S.C. set bail at $100,000.00 with no ten percent option.

As conditions of bail, Argueta-Diaz, is to have no contact with the victim or victim’s family and must surrender his passport.

He was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail and is scheduled to appear in Bergen County Central Judicial Processing Court for a first appearance on Wednesday, August 31st.
