Lodi Woman Charged with Breaking her Child's Legs

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Gurbir S. Grewal announced the arrest of 23-year-old DALIA E. TOALONGO of Westminster Place, Lodi, on charges of Aggravated Assault and Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The arrest is the result of a joint investigation conducted by members of the Bergen County Prosecutor's Office, Special Victims Unit authorities said.

According to police, on Sunday, August 28, 2016, the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office was contacted by the Division of Child Protection and Permanency and advised that a 5-month-old female child was admitted to Holy Name Medical Center.

The child had sustained multiple fractures of her extremities. An investigation was initiated by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office, Special Victims Unit and the Lodi Police Department. Based on the investigation and interviews, on Monday, August 29, 2016, Dalia E. TOALONGO was arrested and charged with one count of Aggravated Assault and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The Honorable SUSAN J. Steele, P.J.Cr. set Dalia E. TOALONGO’S bail at $150,000.00 with no 10 percent option. Dalia E. TOALONGO is to have no contact with the victim and must surrender her passport as conditions of bail.

She was remanded to the Bergen County Jail in lieu of bail, and is scheduled to make her first appearance on August 31, 2016 at 2:00 PM in Central Judicial Processing Court.

Acting Bergen County Prosecutor Grewal states that the charges are merely accusations and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and would also like to thank the Lodi Police Department for their assistance in this investigation.
