Linden Woman, 85, Loses $7K in Driveway Seal Scam

Linden New Jersey

Police are warning Linden residents of recent scam that left an elderly woman out of $7,000 dollars.

On July 8, sometime around noon,  an 85-year-old Linden woman was approached by a man while sitting outside her home in Linden.

The man told her that he would seal her driveway and rear patio for a “great price”.

The suspect, arrived in a newer model blue Chevrolet pickup truck.

When the woman agreed, he left and soon returned with several younger men who had apparently used black paint and spray on the driveway.

The man then demanded $7,000 cash for the job. When she handed him the money, he said he would return tomorrow to finish the patio.

She described the man as a white male, between 40-50 years of age, 5’9”, 200 lbs. The other helpers were also white but younger, added the victim.

Police are warning residents to beware of these scams and to contact the police if they are approached by unsolicited persons looking to do home improvements or any work on your property.
