Linden Police Fatally Shoots Attacking Dog

Linden Police officials are investigating an officer-involved shooting that killed a dog Friday morning. 

“

Police say just before 11 am this morning, Linden Officers responded to check the welfare of multiple dogs.

Upon arrival, Linden Officers followed an involved party to the 600 block of Dewitt Street where, during the course of the investigation, officers were attacked by one of the dogs.

Another Linden Officer discharged their weapon one time, killing the dog. 

This incident remains under investigation, and additional information will not be released at this time.

 “We ask for residents to remain patient and stay clear of the area,” Linden Police officials said.

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office and the NJ Attorney General's Office have been notified, and in accordance with established guidelines they will be the lead investigators in this case.
