Police in Linden arrested Mr. Shawn Stuckey, 25, of Rahway and Mr. Stafon Kendrick Jr, 20, of Newark and seized an illegal firearm during a traffic stop.
According to police, on Tuesday at about 8:30 p.m., Officers stopped a 2002 Ford Explorer for a traffic violation.
Police say a subsequent investigation led to the discovery of a handgun and high-capacity magazine, as well as a quantity of suspected marijuana from inside the vehicle.
Stuckey and Stafon were charged with second-degree possession of a weapon and fourth-degree possession of a prohibited weapon, as well as disorderly persons drug offenses.
Police say the men were lodged in the Union County Jail, pending a scheduled appearance in Superior Court.
