Linden Police Arrest Elizabeth Teen in Internet iPhone Sale Robbery

Linden Elizabeth

Linden police announced the arrest of a 15-year-old Elizabeth juvenile Friday afternoon for robbing a 17/year-old Linden girl who was attempting to purchase an iPhone advertised for sale on Facebook.

The victim arranged to meet the seller on E. Henry St. near the Linden Public Library on April 15th.

The Elizabeth youth grabbed $140.00 from the girl and later pushed the girl out of the moving car. The girl never received the smart phone, and she was treated for minor injuries.

Linden Detective Keith Milos conducted a follow up investigation and worked with the Elizabeth Police Department and the Union County Prosecutor’s Office Intelligence Unit which led to developing the Elizabeth youth as a suspect.

He was arrested at school and brought to Linden headquarters where he was charged with second degree robbery.

He was later taken to the Union County Juvenile Detention facility in Linden pending a future court date.

Partly as a result of this incident, the police department will be creating an Internet Exchange Zone, a safe environment where internet buyers and sellers can meet to negotiate sales.

The area will be under 24 hour video surveillance with the hope that it deters any criminal activity from occurring.

Details will be announced in the near future.
