Linden Police Arrest Armed Roselle Teen, 16

A 16-year-old teen with a gun accused of breaking into vehicles was arrested Friday evening, police said.

According to police, officers responded to the 400 block of Allen Street on a report of a man breaking into vehicles Friday around 11:24 p.m., Captain James Sarnicki said today.

Arriving officers observed a man standing near a parked car when he began to run towards Elizabeth.

Additional responding officers located the suspect on the 500 block of Richmond Street, just over the Elizabeth line, where he was positively identified him by the first officer, said the captain.

Officers recovered a .380 caliber handgun near the stop and were able to determine that the 16-year-old teen from Roselle, tossed it just prior to being stopped.

He was charged with multiple weapons offenses and taken to the Union County Juvenile Detention Center in Linden pending a court hearing.
