Linden Officers Use Narcan on Heroin Overdose Victim

Linden New Jersey

City police officers used the anti-opioid medication Narcan to revive a 20-year-old Bloomfield woman found unconscious early this morning in Linden.

Police responded to a residence on the 300 block of Chandler Avenue shortly after 12:30 a.m. for a report of a possible overdose, Captain James Sarnicki said.   Officers spoke to a 23-year-old Linden man who told them that his friend, a 20-year-old woman from Bloomfield, had injected herself with heroin about 20 minutes in the past when she became unconscious and unresponsive.

Linden officers Jason Mohr and Michael Cistaro administered Narcan to revive the woman, Sarnicki said.

The Fire Department Ambulance arrived on scene and continued to treat the woman, who was then transported to Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth for additional treatment.
