Linden Officer, Son of Police Chief Issued Summons for Leaving Accident Scene

Police are investigating a weekend crash that claims that a Linden Officer - son of police chief - was issued a summons for leaving the scene of an accident.

According to reports, Officer James E. Schulhafer, was backing out of a parking lot on the 800 block of West Elizabeth Avenue around 6:45 p.m. Friday, when he struck a parked 2009 Toyota Sienna occupied by a 65-year-old man, Linden Capt. James Sarnicki said.

The off-duty officer was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Tahoe at the time of the crash. 

The man in the vehicle complained of pain but no medical attention was rendered, added Sarnicki.

The accident remains under investigation.
