Linden Man Arrested While Attempting to Burglarize Local Business

Linden police arrested a 22-year-old man on a burglary charge Tuesday.

According to authorities, on Oct. 23rd at approximately 8:15 p.m. a local business owner notified police that his security system alerted him of an intruder at his business located on the 700 block of E. Elizabeth Avenue.

Upon arrival, officers found the defendant, later identified as 22-year-old Sha-Quan Champagne, inside of the custom printing and embroidery business.

Police arrested Champagne without incident and charged him with third-degree burglary.

Authorities say he was released on a summons pending an appearance in Superior Court next month.

Convictions on third-degree crimes are commonly punishable by 3-5 years in state prison.

All defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
