Linden Councilman Involved in Motorcycle Accident

A Linden councilman was injured after he tried to avoid collided with a vehicle Sunday afternoon.

Police responded to East Elizabeth Avenue for an accident involving Linden City Councilman Michael Minarchenko. 

At approximately 5:41 p.m., Minarchenko was driving his 2009 Harley Davidson motorcycle when he purposely put his motor cycle into a skid to avoid colliding with another vehicle.

Minarchenko, 51, told officers that a vehicle had pulled out into his lane of traffic on the 1400 block of E. Elizabeth Avenue, when he put the bike into a “control skid” to avoid collision and slid off the roadway. 

Minarchenko suffered a broken ankle and was taken to Trinitas Hospital in Elizabeth by the Fire Department Ambulance where he was treated and released.

Responding officers searched the area for the vehicle which caused the accident, only described as a Hyundai, but were unable to locate it.

Police are investigating the accident.
