NJ State Police officials have launched an investigation into a pedestrian strike that severely injured a person on the NJ Turnpike in Kearny on Monday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, it happened in the northbound lanes of the highway near 15W in Kearny just before 3 a.m.
Police say Troopers arrived and found the severely injured victim lying in the roadway after a vehicle struck them at that location.
NJ State Traffic officials said the following about delays; "As of 3:14 am, there's a crash investigation on the New Jersey Turnpike - Western Spur northbound just north of Interchange 15W - I-280 in Kearny. All lanes are closed.
NJ State Police officials have not confirmed a fatality as of 3:55 a.m.
