There are life-threatening injuries reported for a person who was shot at a location in Elizabeth late Friday night.
According to a preliminary investigation by authorities, several rounds of gunfire rang out at a housing development located in the 400 block of Irvington Avenue just before 11:40 p.m.
Police say officers arrived at the scene found an unidentified person suffering severe injuries after being shot in the stomach at that location.
The victim was rushed to the hospital where the extent of injuries were only reported as life-threatening as of 1:30 a.m.
Police and crime scene units taped the area off where they found several shell casings according to police.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation.
