EMS rushed a male victim to Universtiy Hospital suffering injury from gunfire a short time ago.
Police responded to reports of shots fired in the area of West Market Street and 7th Street at around 4:20 p.m. where they located the victim suffering life threatening injuries at that location.
There is a crime scene established at this time.
Avoid the area for the investigation.
In a separate incident, gunfire rang out in the 100 block of Shepard Street at around 3:15 p.m. sending a large police response to the scene where a male victim was reportedly struck in the arm by apparent gunfire.
His injuries were not reported to be life threatening.
Up in the city's West Ward, reports of shot fired sent police to the 300 block of Sanford Avenue where there are conflicting reports of a shooting victim at that location.
Newark Pooice are investigating all of the incidents.
