Two victims suffering gunshot wounds that were self-transported to University Hospital early this morning set-off an intense police investigation and search in the city's North Ward.
Residents said the sound of gunfire interrupted the silence of the morning in the 40's block of Passaic Street at around 2 a.m. where police converged on the area, setting up a crime scene, then conducting a thorough search for the suspect/s responsible.
Police also set up a crime scene at University Hospital where they focused on the vehicle that the victims were transported in.
One of the victims reportedly suffered a gunshot wound to the face while the other was shot to the side. A dark colored (possibly grey) Oldsmobile was seen fleeing the area.
The identities of the victims have not been released at this time.
