The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office has been alerted of a shooting that killed a teenage girl in Jersey City Monday night.
According to preliminary information, multiple rounds of gunfire erupted in the vicinity of New and Rutgers Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m.
When officers arrive at the scene, they found an unidentified female suffering a bullet wound in her face reports said.
The juvenile was transported to Jersey City Medical Center for treatment but died during the overnight hours.
The motive for the shooting is under investigation. The Hudson County Prosecutor's Office will take the lead in the active and ongoing investigation.
No arrests immediately reported.
