There were no injuries immediately reported in a shooting at a house party held in the city overnight.
About 100 party goers scattered after several rounds of gunfire rang out in the front of a house located in the 200 block of Roseville Avenue at around 1 a.m.
Police arrived to the scene where they encountered the large crowd reportedly running from the scene.
A search of the area had cops locate several shell casings but no injured victims according to reports.
According to residents in the area, the crowd was large, but in the rear of the house and they were orderly until an unidentified person began to open fire in the front of the house where the party was being held.
Residents said that the party was a memorial event for a local rapper that recently died.
Newark Police are investigating.
