There is an active investigation into a an armed robbery that had suspect fire shots at the victim in a residential neighborhood in Newark overnight.
The incident occurred in the 200 block of Garside Street near 3rd Avenue before 10 p.m. sending police to the scene after they received multiple reports of shots fired at that location.
Victims informed units arriving at the scene that male suspect armed with guns approached and attempted an armed robbery shortly before officers' arrival.
During the incident, the suspects fired several shots at the victims before running away from the scene.
Officers canvassing the area found several shell casings, but the victims did not suffer any injuries.
The Newark Police Department will handle the investigation.
