Large Brawl Outside Linden Night Club Leads to Three Arrests; Officer Injured

A large fight, of close to 200 people, had Linden police and other municipalities responding to a local city night club Sunday for a large fight that lead to three arrests and an injured officer.

Police responded to the Dragonfly Restaurant and Night Club, located at 661 W. Edgar Rd., around 1:49 a.m. for a large disorderly group in the parking lot, Captain James Sarnicki said.

Responding officers encountered approximately 200 people in the parking lot engaged in small fights. 

Officers requested mutual aid from surrounding police departments to disperse the group.

Police made several arrests: 

Kevin Clervil, 28, of East Orange was charged with riot, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct and obstruction. 

He was further charged with criminal mischief after he kicked out a rear window of a patrol car after he was placed into it. His bail was set at $25,000.

Andre Pearson, 24, of Roselle, was charged with riot, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. Bail was set at $7,500.

Judith Alverna, 22, of Maplewood, was charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, resisting arrest, and disorderly conduct. Her bail was set at $20,000. 

A Linden officer injured his wrist after someone stepped on it, during the brawl. 

He was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Rahway for treatment. 

According to police, almost an hour later the parking lot was finally cleared of patrons. 

The three arrested are scheduled to appear in court on March 20.
