According to preliminary reports, police responded to Krausers store on the 1100 block of S. Wood Avenue around 3:15 p.m. for a report of an armed robbery.
Upon arrival, officers found the Krausers’ clerk suffering severe injuries after a male suspect pulled a sharp object during the incident and stabbed the clerk in the back, neck, and chest.
The store clerk involved in the incident was transported to Newark University Hospital with serious injuries.
The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic man with dark hair, approximately 5'10", had Khaki or brown pants and was last seen in the area of W. 12th Street and Winans Avenue.
