Juvenile Charged in Camden Homicide

Camden County Prosecutor Mary Eva Colalillo and Camden County Police Chief Scott Thomson reported a juvenile has been charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred on May 18, 2017.

The suspect, a 17-year-old male from Camden, was charged with first-degree murder in the death of 18-year-old Shapaul Johnson.

Shapaul Johnson, also of Camden, was found fatally shot in the area of the 1000 block of Thurman Street on the evening of May 18.

Camden County Police had responded at approximately 7:27 p.m. that night about a ShotSpotter activation and 9-1-1 calls.

Officers arrived and located Johnson suffering from a gunshot wound.

EMS transported Johnson to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 1:35 a.m.

Authorities are holding the juvenile at the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center.
