Juvenile Among 32 Arrested Following Warrant Roundup in Essex County

Newark police announce the results of a two-day warrant roundup conducted alongside the Essex County Sheriff’s Office and the New Jersey State Police.

Officials say the most notable of the 32 arrests made was of a 17-year-old juvenile, who was wanted in a shooting last week. The juvenile is also a person of interest in a carjacking and other shooting incidents. According to authorities, officers recovered two handguns at the juvenile’s residence.

Police also arrested Zakhai Perry, 22, who was wanted in connection with a shooting that occurred last month. Officers seized a handgun and shotgun from Perry’s residence.

According to authorities, both were charged with aggravated assault and unlawful weapons offenses.

Of the 34 people on the warrant list, nine were captured, and police made 23 other arrests in the process, bringing the total to 32.

In addition to the four weapons recovered, police found 241 jugs of cocaine, 155 decks of heroin, 24 bags of marijuana and recovered $708.75 in cash connected to the confiscated drugs.

Police also arrested seven Newark residents, they include Kyron Gaddie, Michael McClean, Laquan Vauters, Quawan Edwards, Brentley Solomon, Javon Mc Coy and Jammi Brantley and charged them with an array of weapons and narcotics.
