Jersey City Police Investigates Two Overnight Robbery Incidents

Police in Jersey City are investigating two robbery incidents that occurred overnight in the city.

In the first incident, police were called to the 40's block of Cottage Street for a report of a robbery in progress at around 11:35 p.m.

Police arrived and were told by the victim that several black male suspects approached and surrounded him before, then physically took a cell phone and about $1000 in cash according to reports. It is not immediately clear of the suspects possessed a weapon, but there were no serious physical injuries immediately reported.

In the remaining incident, police were called to the 40's block of Jewett Avenue shortly before 1:30 a.m. to investigate a report of a robbery at that location.

Upon arrival, the victim told police that a male suspect attempted a robbery then began to attack during the course of the incident physically.

EMS treated the victim for non-life threatening injuries.

Both incidents remain under investigation.
