Jersey City Man Shot During Stolen Vehicle Investigation, Charged

Hudson County Prosecutor's Office announced that a Jersey City man accused of dragging an officer with a stolen vehicle is facing numerous offenses.

On Thursday, two plain-clothes officers attempted to stop a stolen vehicle near the intersection of Virginia and Ocean avenues around 12.30 a.m.

During the stop, police tried to remove the driver, Lamont Robinson of Park Street in Jersey City, but he tried to flee as he dragged the officer with the car.

One of the officers fired his service weapon and struck the driver multiple times.

Robinson was taken to Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health, where he was listed in stable condition. The officer dragged, suffered non-life threatening injuries to his foot.

Robinson has been charged with aggravated assault, aggravated assault of a police officer, eluding, and receiving stolen property.

As of result of Robinson's condition, a first appearance has not been schedule.

The shooting is being investigated by the Hudson County Prosecutor's Office.
