A 27-year-old man was sentenced today to 10 years in prison for fatally stabbing his mother's boyfriend.
On July 17, 2013 tensions at the Clerk Street home were running high as the lack of electricity and the rising temperatures during a heat wave increased, report states.
Gregory Stone, 27, heard his mother and Jules James fighting, as he walked in, Stone heard what sounded like someone being hit and his mother say stop.
Stone than grabbed a knife and stabbed James in the chest and abdomen while in the dark, authorities said.
Stone who was initially charged with murder, plead guilty to aggravated manslaughter as as part of a plea agreement.
Stone must serve 85 percent of his sentence to be eligible for parole.
