A 45-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a hospitalized woman will remain detained, according to authorities.
Hudson County Assistant Prosecutor Karen Kazanchy said that Jackie Burgess on June 7th reportedly wandered the hospital halls before he entered the 80-year-old woman’s room and began touching her crotch. According to reports, the victim initially thought he was part of hospital staff adjusting her catheter but after he pushed on her sore leg, she realized he wasn't in hospital attire, buzzed for a nurse but the man walked out.
Officials say Burgess was taken into custody by hospital security and remanded to the Hudson County jail in Kearny.
According to authorities, after Burgess was arrested, he masturbated in a holding cell. It appears Burgess is unable to control his sexual impulses and as a result, should remain detained.
