A Jackson Township woman has admitted to shooting a 79-year-old man and now faces a lengthy state prison sentence, Ocean County Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer announced.

Marian Rojas, 34, pleaded guilty on June 15 before Superior Court Judge Kenneth T. Palmer to aggravated assault stemming from a shooting that occurred on October 24, 2025, in Jackson Township.

Prosecutors said they will seek a seven-year sentence in New Jersey State Prison when Rojas appears for sentencing on August 24, 2026. Any sentence imposed would be subject to the No Early Release Act.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. when officers from the Jackson Township Police Department responded to a residence on Jackson Pines Road for a report of a gunshot victim.

Upon arrival, officers found a 79-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound to the shoulder.

The victim was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River, treated for minor injuries, and later released.

An investigation determined that Rojas was responsible for the shooting and fled the scene following the incident.

Authorities broadcast a description of Rojas and the vehicle she was driving to surrounding law enforcement agencies.

About 45 minutes later, officers from the Manchester Township Police Department located and stopped a vehicle matching the description.

Rojas was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Ocean County Jail, where she has remained detained since her arrest.
