Police in Irvington are investigating a shooting that was reported in the Township on Sunday evening.
According to preliminary reports, the incident happened at the intersection of Coit Street and Chancellor Avenue where gunfire rang out at approximately 7:50 p.m.
Units arriving at the scene found evidence that a shooting occurred but there were no victims found at the scene according to reports.
Police later learned that a male victim checked in to a Newark Hospital after being transported by private vehicle.
The extent of the victim's injuries have not been reported as life-threatening at this time.
Police set up a crime scene where they collected evidence to support a motive for the shooting.
There were no arrests reported.
