Irvington Township Police Arrests Adult, Juvenile for Possession of Weapon, Drugs

Police in Irvington took two suspects into custody after locating them armed with guns on a street in the Township on Wednesday afternoon.

According to a statement released by Irvington police officials, officers on routine patrol in the vicinity Elmwood and Florence avenues were alerted to suspects in possession of guns and drugs at that location.

Units reportedly spotted the suspects and immediately requested additional assistance from headquarters as they attempted to investigate the matter.

Police officials said officers were able to place a 20-year-old man from Irvington and a 17-year-old boy from East Orange into custody then charge them with possession of weapons and drugs.

Irvington Township Police officials say the man was transported to The Essex County Jail and the teen was sent to the juvenile detention center in Newark.
