Irvington Student Struck by Vehicle in Downtown Newark Dies

A woman struck by a vehicle in Newark's downtown last week has died family members told RLS Metro Breaking News.

Family members identified the woman as 18-year-old Christina Stanford an Irvington High School student who was struck by a vehicle on Broad and Market Street that was driven by a man who authorities said fled the scene on the evening of Monday April 25th 2016.

Estevez-Bonifacio, 28, of Newark was arrested and charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident involving serious bodily injury and endangering an injured victim authorities said.

Stanford was taken off life support at University Hospital at around 11 p.m. on Saturday night family members said.
