Irvington Man, Two Juveniles Arrested for Crashing a Stolen Vehicle

Police in Union announce the arrest of three males from Irvington for crashing a stolen vehicle.

According to police, at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Monday, July 18, the Union Police Department received a report of a motor vehicle burglary on Portland Road. 

The suspect vehicle was reported to be a white BMW X5 that was found to have been reported stolen out of New York City on July 17. 

Police said that a short time after the burglary was reported, officers located the BMW on Springfield Ave near Millburn Avenue. 

When the officers attempted to stop the BMW, the driver sped off and initiated a pursuit. 

According to police officials, the pursuit continued for a short while until the suspect vehicle crashed in the 700 block of Prospect Street in Maplewood. 

All three occupants fled from the vehicle but were apprehended by the responding officers after foot pursuits.

Details of those arrested are as follows:

  • Michael Quinones, age 18, of Irvington, NJ (Charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Resisting Arrest) 
  • 16-year-old male from Irvington, NJ (Charged with Receiving Stolen Property and Resisting Arrest) 
  • 17-year-old male from Irvington, NJ (Charged with Eluding Police, Receiving Stolen Property and Resisting Arrest)

There were no reported injuries.  

The two juveniles who were arrested were released to their respective family members.  The adult was released and given a court date.
