Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray and Newark Police Director Eugene Venable are reporting five people had been shot last night leaving two dead.
Authorities said at about 9 p.m. last evening Newark Police responded to the 700 block of South 20th Street where they found Zaire Williams,23 of Irvington had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene.
At about 11:30 P.M. Newark Police responded to the 300 block of South Orange Avenue corner of South 9th. Street on reports of shots fired. As they arrived the found Lisa Parker,36 of Orange had been shot and was pronounced dead at the scene. There were three additional victims also shot at the same location. The surviving victims were transported to University Hospital and are listed in stable condition.
There are no suspects or motive at this juncture of the investigation . Detectives from the Essex County Prosecutor's Task Force including Newark personnel are conducting the investigations . It has not be established at this point if the shooting/homicides are related.
The Essex County Sheriff's Crime Stoppers will give a $10,000.00 reward for information leading to an arrest.
