Reports of shots fired that rang out in the vicinity of a funeral home in Newark's South Ward Wednesday morning sent police to the scene where officers canvassing the area located several shell casings according to authorities.

Authorities said, as he ran, officers observed **Overstreet** toss a handgun and continue fleeing.
Police recovered the tossed handgun, a loaded .40 caliber Glock, which had been reported stolen out of Georgia.
Detectives developed evidence that Tyshone Overstreet is a suspect in this illegal gun possession incident and a warrant for his arrest was issued authorities said.
Detectives reportedly located Overstreet Wednesday at **Bergen Street and Lehigh Avenue** where he was arrested without incident.
A spokesperson for the Newark Police Department said Overstreet is only being held for the weapons possession that occurred in early March but was apprehended near the Begen Street shooting scene but not charged for that shooting.
Overstreet is charged with Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Prohibited Weapon.
These charges are merely accusations.
