Newark – Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn A. Murray and Irvington Police Director Musa A. Malik announced today that the Irvington Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office Homicide/Major Crimes Task Force are investigating the fatal shooting of Dontell W. Gibson, 21, of East Orange.
Gibson was a victim of a shooting homicide at the intersection of Ball and May Streets in Irvington around midnight. He was pronounced dead at 12:23 am according to authorities.
Authorities said at this time there is no motive has been determined and no arrests have been made. The investigation is active and ongoing. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
