Police in Newark are investigating a shooting that occurred at a housing development in Newark's North Ward Saturday evening.
The incident happened before shortly before 10 pm when the gunshot victim arrived via private vehicle to the Beth Israel Hospital on Lyons Avenue.
Police began a search of the Stephen Crane Housing complex for evidence and any other victims according to reports.
The victim's injuries were not immediately reported as life-threatening.
In another incident at the housing complex, gunfire rang out near a recreation center located at 1 North Hawthorne Lane at around 1 a.m. where officers arrived and found multiple shell casings. Newark and Belleville Police Departments canvassed the area for victims.
It is not clear if a victim was ever found.
The motive for both shootings remains under investigation.
