One person was transported to University Hospital after a person was found suffering a gunshot wound on a street in Newark Saturday night.
According to preliminary reports, police requested a crime scene unit to assist in an investigation near 12 Pennsylvania Avenue where a male was found suffering gunshot wounds just before 11:50 p.m.
Authorities have not released the extent of the victim's injuries at this time.
Poice are looking into if the victim was struck on Pennsylvania Avenue or if he was shot at another location and sought help by officers who were on patrol near Lincoln Park.
The investigation is active and no arrests have been made.
