Injuries Reported in Newark Shootings

Police are investigating two separate shootings that left three people injured in the city on Monday evening.

Reports of shots fired sent police to the area of Springfield Avenue and 20th Street at around 9 p.m. where arriving officers located a male victim suffering a non-life threatening gunshot wound to the arm.

The victim was transported to University Hospital where he was treated for the injury then released.

In the second shooting, officials at the Beth Israel Hospital contacted Newark Police when two male victims entered the emergency room suffering non-life threatening gunshot injuries.

The victims reported to police that they were shot in the area of 15th Avenue and Bergen Street.

It is not clear if police ever located a crime scene in that area.

The motives for both shootings are under investigation.
