Injuries Reported in Irvington Township Shooting

Irvington Township

Police in Irvington are looking into a motive for a shooting that occurred at a housing project in the Township during the overnight hours.

Residents in the area said the overnight shooting is a series of shots fired incidents that have been occurring since Sunday night. Residents say, this time, it appears gunmen have finally reached their target.

In last night's incident, police taped off the area off the vicinity of Crescent Lane in the 100 block of Union Avenue at around 11 p.m.

Police arrived at the scene and secured the scene after finding at least one injured person, near the Township's Red Carpet Inn Hotel.

Confused and weary visitors of the hotel -who arrived from Newark airport- began to check in to the establishment and could not get confirmation on what exactly was occuring.

As police checked the crime scene for evidence, EMS placed one person in an ambulance and began treating serous injuries.

According to residents, another person was treated by medical personnel at the scene, but they could not confirm if the person was struck by gunfire.

Irvington Township City officials have not released several requests for information regarding a rash of violence around the Crescent Lane housing project and The Red Carpet Inn hotel that residents say they are experiencing.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office has confirmed non-life threatening injuries for the victim at this time.

The motive for the shooting remains under investigation.
