House Fire Kills Senior Woman in Bloomfield

A fast-moving fire that ignited inside a house in Bloomfield took the life of a senior township woman late Friday night.

It happened at around 5:40 p.m. where Bloomfield firefighters were dispatched to 160 Watsessing Avenue after they received calls for a working structure fire according to fire officials.

Crews arrived at the scene and began aggressively attacking the interior blaze with the assistance of Montclair and Bellville firefighters.

Once firefighters made entry into the house, they found the unconscious and unresponsive 83-year-old where they performed life-saving techniques to receive her.

According to fire officials, the woman was rushed to Clara Maas Medical Center in Belleville where she succumbed to her injuries.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office are looking into the official cause of the fire but according to a preliminary investigation, the cause does not appear suspicious officials said.
