Police officials in Newark are reporting no injuries in a shots-fired incident that erupted in a section of Newark’s South Ward this evening.
According to a preliminary investigation, residents in the area of 193 Shephard Avenue ducked for cover inside their homes after shooters arrived and began to fire repeatedly at unknown targets in the area around 5:45 p.m.
When police officers arrived, they searched the neighborhood for victims, but there were no injuries.
Police say bullets struck the second-floor window of a home on the block and one car was found struck by gunfire.
The suspect fled the scene and is at-large.
Police say they are investigating the motive behind the shooting.
