Hudson County authorities are investigating a shooting that injured a person in Jersey City Friday morning.
According to a preliminary investigation, police responded to reports of shots fired that rang out in the area of Griffith Street and Webster Avenue around 2:40 p.m.
Police said when officers arrived at the scene, they found shell casings and a trail of blood, but after they searched the area, no victims were found.
While police investigated at the scene of the crime, officials at Hoboken Medical Center contacted Jersey City Police after the unidentified victim entered the emergency department suffering gunshot injuries.
Police say they believe the victim was shot at the crime scene.
The investigation into the incident is in its early stages and no arrests have been made.
