Firefighters in Hillside swiftly knocked down a fast-moving fire that ignited inside multi-family mixed-used building overnight.
Fire broke out at 1570 Maple Avenue at approximately 1 a.m. sending firefighters to the scene where they encountered smoke coming from the residential section of the building that also has businesses on the lower level.
Fire officials activated a second alarm as they began to search for the seat of the fire according to reports.
The blaze was placed under control in less than a half hour with no serious injuries reported.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
