Hawthorne Shooting Suspect Turns Himself In

Passaic County authorities have arrested a man in connection with a recent shooting incident in Hawthorne.

Angel Alberto, a 34-year-old resident of Hawthorne, was taken into custody on September 17, 2023, following a shooting that occurred the previous evening.

On September 16, at about 10:37 p.m., Hawthorne Police officers were called to the intersection of Wagner Place and Midland Avenue after reports of gunshots.

They found a 32-year-old male from Ridgefield at the scene with a non-lethal gunshot wound.

Thankfully, the victim received immediate treatment and didn't need additional medical care.

Investigations by the Hawthorne Police Department pointed to Alberto as the prime suspect.

Charged with multiple offenses, including second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Handgun and Aggravated Assault in both the second and fourth degrees, Alberto turned himself in to the police the following day.

Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes commended the swift actions of the Hawthorne Police Department in addressing the incident.
